Tell Me Something Good

(NOTE: Based on time elapsed since the posting of this entry, the BS-o-meter calculates this is 15.678% likely to be something that Ferrett now regrets.)

So I had the kind of day where I lay in bed for an hour, afraid to get up and face the day.  Not that there’s anything particularly challenging about the day, but I’m in a bit of a blue spot lately, and it is a comfortable bed.
On a day like this, I need reinforcement, so I’m going to ask a question:
What is so wonderful in your life that you just need to tell somebody about it?
That somebody is me.  The world is full of wonders, and I’m not seeing enough of them.  Bring the happiness here and share it a little, if you please.

I’m getting married to a wonderful woman and it’s all thanks to YOU.

I have love and for today isn’t that enough. I’m loved by my friends, my family and some days even strangers show me how they love…and in turn I show my love for others.

I quit my job because I had the opportunity to go back to school for free (free is my magic word), to become a machinist. Our last day of class is October 29th, and the promised flood of job offers hadn’t happened yet – I was starting to panic a bit. Our family was hanging on by our fingernails financially with the loss of my meager income, and a job was unbelievably important.
Then I got a call yesterday from a company I’d applied to. They invited me in for an interview and hired me on the spot! I’m the first of my class to be employed!
I am, by nature, a pessimist. I’ve had reason to be – my mother likes to say that if it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all. It was wonderful to have something go right at last!

Woo Woo. And I do not mean some mystical thing that other people believe and try to force on you. I do not mean faith. I mean the wonderfull reality of life. The beauty, the love, the energy that surrounds us and fills our bodies and would support us if we were not so busy comparing and anayzing and judging ourelves an everything else.
I stole this from one of the responders to your Woo Woo post. It took me a while to figure out what he wa sying, but he got it bang on.
I was shocked when I read your post. But really you are not giving up writing. You are giving up the judgement and comparison. Go with your gut, do what you have to do, and enjoy life. Even if that is enjoying your comfortable bed. Who said you had to get up and do huge wonderous things?
And is this easy, do I do this all the time? Of course not. But when I am feeling like giving up (on life I mean), thats were I go. Feeling the experience of life in my body.

I’m taking a stand-up comedy class to do something to push myself and start being creative again. Last night I did my first bit for the class, and it was the biggest high ever making people laugh like that. My best received line (which I hope will make you smile): “I like my cat food like I like my neckties– as bait for lesbians in line at the grocery store.”

I am in an amazing relationship with a guy I am crazy about and who’s crazy about me, and we have *fantastic* sex. 🙂
Also, I’m defrosting some London broil to make beef stew for dinner, and that’ll be pretty good, too.

    You.
    Seriously. You.
Sure, I met you through the crazy circles that is the Magic community, but I read virtually everything you post here and on Twitter, and you’re always thoughtful, engaging, and smart. Your series on why nice guys don’t get laid is brilliant and spot on and should be handed to every nerd kid at some point in high school.
But if me telling you to look in the mirror isn’t quite enough, then I leave you with The Oatmeal’s analysis of the most vicious and cuddly serial killers in the world:

A cute blonde (who happens to be my wife) asked me out on a date for tomorrow!

I am trying my hand at making Flint style coney sauce from scratch on Saturday. Hoping it turns out as well as my grilled venison burgers!

I just took my first baby steps into poly, and I couldn’t be happier. Having the best sex of my life!

Our house was burgled two years ago, and they made off with a batch of my wife’s jewelry, including several irreplaceable family heirlooms, notable among them her great grandmother’s watch. Yesterday she came downstairs in happy tears because she’d pulled a bureau drawer out completely, and found the watch nestled in the underwear at the back of it. Apparently it had fallen down when the vandals pulled the top drawer out, and gone unnoticed. So we’ve had our small miracle for the week.
We also just coaxed inside a stray cat which has been hanging around for several weeks. She’s turning out to be incredibly sweet and affectionate, and in all ways a superior cat. Although typing which she tries to sit on my chest is a bit challenging….

Caaaaaats! Little purring cats that will not leave me alone because they are driven to climb on me and purr. Other, bigger cats who are more laid-back but still very sweet and soft and fluffy.
