Ask Me Anything

(NOTE: Based on time elapsed since the posting of this entry, the BS-o-meter calculates this is 14.472% likely to be something that Ferrett now regrets.)

Today’s a bit of a nailbiter; we’re going to get the results of Rebecca’s MRI this afternoon.  If it’s bad, then things will be very bad.
So I can’t really focus today.  This is usually the time I ask for distractions, so today’s a good day for an “Ask Me Anything” entry.  The rules are the same as always.
Ask me a real question. On any topic. I’ll do my best to answer honestly.
(Fake questions like “How much wood would a woodchuck chuck?” are neither clever nor useful.  You can do it; it marks you as the kind of person who doesn’t realize the joke is so obvious it’s been done a hundred times before, and I’ll think less of you for being tedious.  Hey, I told you I’d answer honestly.)
All other questions will be answered politely, and to the best of my ability.  Go, if you please.

If there’s a generally considered positive quality you have that, if taken to an extreme, would mark you as a villain, what would that be?
Example: someone who thinks justice trumps all, and squashes everything in their way to set the perceived ‘balance’, or decides that killing some people will result in greater total happiness. It’s in the pursuit of the greater good, but would get them marked as a villain.

My ability to make compelling arguments. In fact, it has made me a villain when I’ve inadvertently argued for the wrong things, thus spreading badness and encouraging other people to do likewise – which is why I’m more careful about what I commit to the blogosphere these days.

How did you discover your interest in alternative sexualities – kink, non-monogamy, etc?
(You may have already answered this somewhere in your blog; I’ve only recently subscribed rather than reading the occasional post…)

There’s no real origin story per se. At some point I may tell the journey of how Gini and I came to polyamory, but that’s actually really difficult to do because it involves talking about a lot of people who didn’t agree to be a part of the blog, and discussing some awkward situations along the way. As for the kink, my girlfriend brought me to the local kink club, and I experimented, and it was fun.
I’m sorry. I wish it was more interesting than that.
