If You're Not On LiveJournal, Then Where Are You?

(NOTE: Based on time elapsed since the posting of this entry, the BS-o-meter calculates this is 15.678% likely to be something that Ferrett now regrets.)

Monte Cook leaving was the final straw.
See, right now I’m running my old Planescape campaign, and Monte (who designed Planescape) has been writing increasingly interesting thoughts on game design.  Which he’s posted, mostly, here.  And yesterday, he said, “I’m not posting on LiveJournal any more, this is why I have a blog.  See you there.”
As have many others.  And LiveJournal’s RSS aggregation is kind of crappy, so what I need to do is now go out and find all the good blogs and enter them into Google Reader so that I can catch up.
Which brings the big question: What non-LiveJournal blogs should I be reading?  Short lists, please, as if you give me more than three blogs my eyes will glaze over.  But if you’ve gone off-site and think I should be reading you, speak up!  If you love a blogger, let me know!  I’m looking for interesting reading here, so let me know!
(And when I say “blogger,” I mean “People who blog.”  Aggregate collection sites like PostSecret and FailBlog are fascinating in their own way, but I’m looking for people actually writing on their own topics about their own lives.)

I highly recommend Charles Gramlich’s blog, Razored Zen, at http://charlesgramlich.blogspot.com. He writes often and entertainingly about writing. His main genres are horror and fantasy.
Another good blog is Travis Erwin’s “One Word, One Rung, One Day” at http://traviserwin.blogspot.com. He blogs humorously about writing as well as about being a Texan, loving meat, and hating vegetables.
I’ll put in a plug for my blog too: “For Love of Words” at http://ShaunaRoberts.blogspot.com. I do occasional author interviews as well as posts on grammar and photo essays (usually under the heading “Stuff in my Yard”).
If this publishes all in italics, I apologize. It changed to italics while I was writing this comment, but I don’t know why.

Goodness, there are so many to recommend, but here are a few. I don’t know if you read them already.
Jim C. Hines – http://www.jimchines.com – Good book reviews. His blog went viral recently when he tried to contort his body to match the ridiculous “action” poses that women make when on book covers.
Cassandra Parkin – http://cassandraparkin.wordpress.com – She’s snarky and posts hilarious photos of weird/dubious signs she sees in shops. Plus, she’s great at ripping novels like “50 Shades of Grey” and “The Vampire Diaries” to pieces.

I’d recommend a Tumblr that never disappoints when it comes to geekery and/or the strange:

Also, if you’re into food, I’d recommend The Rogue Estate. It’s readable to both the layman and the food snob. 🙂

I’ll go ahead and plug my blog as well. It covers my struggles with writing, with my adventures in parenthood, and day to day thoughts and observations.

At the risk of making the list too long, I’m regulary sent into fits of giggles by a webcomic called Fatherhood, and definitely recommend it:
